The launch of the SUBLiME

Today we're launching SUBLiME, the Submit Unique and Brilliant Levels in to Metanet Event. Submitted levels may make it in to N+! Check out the full details here.

We've also created an Instructable to help you on your way to making a good N level. If you like it, please rate it or digg it!

Good luck!

metablog launched

Check out our development blog here.
The blog will be used to chronicle our development process for projects we're working on, plus host rants, game reviews and whatever else is ejected from our brains. Comments welcome!

As you can see, the blog is hosted at what will be our new site, metanetsoftware.com. We should be moving content there over the course of the next few months.

N+ announced for DS and PSP platforms

With our help, Silverbirch Studios and Atari have begun development on a version of N for DS and PSP.

This version of N+ will also boast some pretty cool new features and graphics, and will retain the gameplay you know and love.

N+ for DS/PSP is expected to be released fall 2007.

And in the meantime, we're still working on Robotology and are putting together a development blog (coming next week!).

N+ announced for Xbox360 Live! Arcade platform

Woah, we haven't updated the news in a whole year -- it's been a boring year, apparently!

Metanet Software has decided to join forces with Vancouver's Klei Entertainment to produce a version of N for Xbox Live Arcade. Development is slated to officially begin on February 1, 2007, and finish at the end of this summer.

We will make sure that this incarnation of N remains as close to the original as possible, in terms of gameplay, graphics and fun. We're including a level editor so players can make and swap their own levels, and we're testing out exciting new features such as multiplayer modes as well.

Expect to see N+ on Live Arcade fall 2007.

And in the meantime, we're working on Robotology and hope to have it finished sometime before the end of time.

N wins the 2006 Slamdance Guerilla Gamemaker Competition's Audience Choice Award!

Wow, we're shocked -- there were so many awesome, amazing games in the competition, it was seriously a heart-stopping moment when Sam announced that N had won.

It was apparently very competitive, we only won by about 0.1% -- and it's easy to understand why the numbers were so close.

Thanks to everyone who voted for N. We took some pictures of the Sparky award and put them up here. We'll add pictures (or links to other people's albums) of the festival shortly.

Congratulations to all the other winners!

We had such an incredible time there -- all of the other developers are so cool and talented, and so great to talk to... Being a part of the competition was amazing in itself, but going to the festival and meeting all the people involved was one of the most inspiring and fantastic experiences we've ever had. Thanks everyone, you rock!

To the Slamdance Festival!

N is a finalist in the 2006 Slamdance Guerilla Gamemaker Competition, which means we'll be off to Park City, Utah tomorrow for the festival. We'll be back in Toronto on January 25th.

There are literally a ton of really great, innovative games in the finals this year, so it's going to be quite an exciting competition. We wish the best to all of the developers.

This just in: our fans are hotter!

In a recent contest held at The Indepedent Gaming Source, "The Sexiest Indie Gamer of All Time", a fan of N was the winner.

Thanks, Max Geiger, for being the sexiest indie gamer of all time and for liking N.

You can see Geiger's list of favourite indie games on this page. Click his picture (finalist #12, in the bottom right image of the group) to see his profile.

This interview focuses more on the technology and code behind N, rather than Mare and Raigan's hilarious personalities.
It should tie in well with the upcoming tutorials.

N version 1.2 released!

Yes, a new version of N is finally here. And we're not talking one of those crappy bugfix releases. Oh no, this one is so significant, we've given it a new release number. See you later, 1.05!

Download it from our games section, or find out about it here. Here's a correspondence with one of our friends, which we think is appropriate for this occasion:
